Dr. Paul Conover is a native of the Miami Valley. He grew up in Germantown and attended Valley View High School.  Upon graduation, he attended the University of Cincinnati and graduated from the College of Pharmacy.  It was during his time in pharmacy school that Dr. Conover developed an interest in pharmacognosy - the study of medicinal drugs derived from plants and other natural sources.  Following his time in Cincinnati, Dr. Conover returned to Dayton where he attended Wright State University, School of Medicine. He then moved to Michigan where he completed an internship and residency in General Surgery and a fellowship in Colon & Rectal Surgery.  Dr. Conover and his family then moved to Oakland, California where he served three years active duty with the United States Navy.

 

Following the completion of training and military service, Dr. Conover returned once again to Dayton and started his own private practice, Miami Valley Colon & Rectal Surgeons in 1997.  During his twenty-plus years in practice, Dr. Conover has achieved fellowship in both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He is a Board Certified Colorectal Surgeon.  At Oakland Naval Medical Center and Fleet Hospital 6 in Zagreb, Croatia Dr. Conover was a member of the general surgery staff, head of the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery and head of the Division of surgical endoscopy.  Back home Dr. Conover has been a member and president of the Dayton Surgical Society and the Ohio Valley Society of Colon and Rectal surgeons. He has been a member of the Ohio State Medical Society and Montgomery County Medical Society and has served as Chief of Surgery at Kettering Hospital.

 

In 2018 Dr. Conover saw an opportunity to slow down from the practice of surgery but continue to serve his patients.  It was in July of that year Dr. Conover obtained his CTR - Certificate to Recommend for the use of medical marijuana. Shortly afterwards he established a new practice, Cannabis Consultants of Dayton.  Dr. Conover is now actively educating and enrolling patients in the use of medical marijuana.
